What are the advantages of Amiad Filtration as against conventional media filtration?
Water savings: For self-cleaning (flush cycles) Amiad Filtration uses only about 10 - 15% of the water required by multi-media tanks.
An SAF4500 system, for example, requires just 22 gallons / flush cycle.
We can assume an average 7 cycles day, 50 cycles week, 2600 cycles / year, x 22 gallons = 57,200 gallons / year.
A traditional "sand filter" with the equivalent flow requirement requires about 400 - 500 thousand gallons of water / year for back flushing.
Space savings: The compactness of the Amiad system speaks for itself. The real estate savings alone probably exceed the equipment cost!
Labor savings: The complexity of manifolding several tanks together requires an increased labor expense.
Responsive vs. Predictive: Amiad technology is directly responsive to actual water conditions, which vary seasonally, during street work, etc. The more turbid the water, the more often the system will purge particle build-up. Multi-tank flush cycles are controlled by a timer clock that can only estimate a certain frequency of saturation.
